If you have someone in your life that is dealing
with depression, it is important that you have information
on depression. Only through educating yourself and
obtaining information on depression will you be able to truly help
your loved one. Here is some information on depression that is

* Learn what the symptoms of depression are so
you can identify them.
* Try to convince someone who is depressed that
they should seek treatment. If you are in charge of a minor who is
depressed, seek out treatment for him or her.
* Tell people who are depressed that they are
loved and they do not have to be miserable. Tell them that you
support them and that you will be there for them.
* Compile information on depression and a list
of resources for the depressed person.
* If the depressed person is unable to function,
help him or her to get to their doctor. Make sure that your loved
one receives the care they need.
* If your depressed loved one seems suicidal,
take him or her to the hospital.
* If your depressed loved one refuses to seek
treatment, arrange for an intervention or the assistance of others.
This can include relatives, friends, doctors or the clergy.
* Do not give up on individuals who are
suffering from depression. Depression clouds the outlook of
individuals and they cannot think clearly. Continue to encourage
the depressed person to seek treatment.
